Rooney and Mourinho

The Blues will have to cough up £80million to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.

The Londoners are on red alert after the Wazza camp last night made it clear their man wants out of Old Trafford.

New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is aware Rooney wants a five-year deal and £200,000 a week to leave the EPL champs.

In addition to that £52m package, Chelsea would have to make £28m for his transfer fee.

Yesterday the Special One claimed Rooney needs to be assured of regular first-team football — or England’s World Cup hopes in Brazil will nosedive.

The 27 year-old last night ripped into Old Trafford bosses, insisting he was “angry and confused” over comments by new manager David Moyes that he would play second fiddle to Dutch ace Robin van Persie.

Kenya international Victor Wanyama is set to undergo a medical at Southampton today ahead of a club-record move.

The Celtic ace’s £12.5million move looked dead after his agent Rob Moore asked for a £1m golden handshake.

But Saints chairman Nicola Cortese refused to cough up and Moore backed down when a switch to Cardiff also fell through.

The 22 year-old will be boss Mauricio Pochettino’s second summer signing after Croat defender Dejan Lovren’s £8.5m move from Lyon.

Wanyama had interests from big English sides Manchester United, Arsenal and he became famous after Celtics win over Barcelona in the Champions league last campaign.

Jozy Altedore Joins Sunderland
Altidore joined from Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar for a fee of around £6million.

The American international arrived on Wearside to complete a medical and will head for the Black Cats’ training camp in Italy to join up with other new recruits Modibo Diakite, Valentin Roberge, Cabral, Duncan Watmore, David Moberg Karlsson and goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

The 23 year-old began his career at New York Red Bulls and played in the Premier League for Hull City in 2009-10.
He scored 38 goals in 67 appearances for AZ and netted 17 times in 60 games for the United States.

The veteran keeper has signed a one-year deal with Chelsea after leaving Fulham on a free last month.

The 40 year-old said: “It’s a phenomenal club — one of the biggest and best clubs in the world.

“It’s an honour to sign for Chelsea. I didn’t take much convincing to come here.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and it was very easy to make the decision that Chelsea was the right club for me.

“The size and ambition of the club and the opportunities at the club ticked all the boxes. It was an amazing opportunity to join a fantastic club.”

Schwarzer became the first overseas player to make 500 Premier League appearances and his signing seems to have solved Chelsea’s goalkeeping dilemma.

The Blues were looking for a back-up to No 1 Petr Cech following the release of Ross Turnbull and Hilario.

This week they had two formal offers for Norwich stopper John Ruddy rejected.

But in a statement Chelsea said they were ‘delighted’ to have landed a player capped 108 times by the Aussies.

The club added: “He brings with him a wealth of experience after more than 15 years in England with Bradford, Middlesbrough and Fulham.”

The deal takes Schwarzer through to next summer’s World Cup in Brazil, for which Australia have already qualified.

Schwarzer joined Bradford in 1996. He then signed for Middlesbrough and played more than 400 times in 11 years.

Highlights included lifting the League Cup in 2003 and playing in the 2006 UEFA Cup final. He also appeared 220 times for Fulham.

The Ivory Coast forward enjoyed an impressive first spell in Premier league scoring 13 goals following his £3.5m switch from Spanish outfit Levante.

He helped Wigan to lift the FA Cup, but was unable to prevent the Latics' slide to relegation from the Premier League.

Liverpool and Norwich were also interested in the 29 year-old, but Everton have won the race for his signature.

Kone said recently: “You always have ambitions as a footballer, and I don’t intend to play in the English second division.”

Kone re-united with his former boss Roberto Martinez, who brought him to EPL in 2012/13 season.

The Italian ended an eight-year stay at Arsenal to sign a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Mannone will compete with Ireland goal keeper Keiren Westwood for the No1 jersey following Mignolet’s £10m move to Liverpool.

The 25 year-old made just 15 first-team appearances for the Gunners having had loan stints at both Hull and Barnsley.

Mannone said: “I waited a long time for an opportunity like Sunderland and for me it is a great one.

“I’m very excited. I am here to work hard and to show what I can do. The potential of the club is incredible.

“I have come from a big club but to be honest I don’t see any difference in the facilities.

“From what I can see on my first day they are brilliant.

“To have good facilities where you can work and improve is something every club wants to achieve.

“The base is there and I am really happy to be here.”

Mannone is Di Canio’s sixth new signing this summer and joins Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite, Cabral, David Moberg Karlsson and Duncan Watmore in Paolo Di Canio’s revamped squad.

The Brazilian midfielder set to join Tottenham from Corinthians for £17million and has been compared to Chelsea’s all-time top scorer Frank Lampard.

And he wants to deliver goals like Lamps when he arrives at North London outfit this campaign.

The 24 year-old said: “This comparison is a responsibility I will take, I will not run away from it.

“Lampard is a great player not only for Chelsea but world football.

“I intend to follow in his footsteps as he is a very professional guy. David Luiz always speaks of him on international duty.

“I’ve always looked at what Lampard does and, to me, he is a phenomenon — the way he hits the ball, what positions he takes up. He really is incredible.”
