The
Ivory Coast International Yaya Toure and his agent yesterday made it clear that
the former Barcelona man will be leaving City in the end of the season if the
contract is not renewed by this Saturday.
Toure’s
ultimatum has alerted European giants including EPL side Chelsea, who see the
powerful Ivorian as the perfect replacement for aging Frank Lampard.
The 29
year-old still has two years of his contract to run and will have to pay £22m
to buy his way out of the Premier League Champions. Under FIFA rules, players
over the age of 28 are allowed to buy out their contracts if they have not been
offered a new deal after three years at a club.
Roman
Abramovich’s side will hand him that in a signing-on fee if it means they do
not have to pay a transfer fee for a player. Yaya was brought by Manchester
City for £25 Million from Barcelona in 2010.
Chelsea’s
chase is made harder by La Liga giants Real Madrid as Jose Mourinho is a long
term admirer of City Star.
A top
Madrid source confirmed: “Jose loves Yaya and has wanted to sign him for
years.”
Arsenal have confirmed that France international Olivier Giroud has agreed to join the Club on a long-term contract.
The 25-year old completed a medical before agreeing terms at the Club’s training ground on Monday evening. The completion of the transfer is now just the subject of formal processes.
Giroud joined the gunners from French champions Montpellier, where he netted 21 goals in 36 league appearances made him the French league’s joint top goal scorer last season and also earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
Giroud enjoyed a two-year spell at the Stade de la Mosson and broke into the national team in November 2011, flew to London after representing Les Bleus at the Euro 2012.
The Chambéry-born striker spent his formative years in France's lower leagues, developing his game with Grenoble, on loan at FC Istres and then at Tours FC, where he played alongside Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny for a season before being awarded the Ligue 2 Player of the Year award in 2009/10.
Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted to have secured the signing of Olivier Giroud. He has a very good physical presence and is exceptional in the air, with a great work ethic. We are excited about Olivier joining us and he will add an additional dimension to our attacking options next season.
“He has proved that he is capable of performing at the top level with club and country, and we saw what a big influence he was in Montpellier’s championship-winning side last season. We all look forward to Olivier joining us and seeing him play in an Arsenal shirt.”
Giroud said: “I am delighted to be here at Arsenal and to be part of one of the great teams in English football. It's a huge satisfaction to join this great club and it’s been a dream since I was young to play in the Premier League.
“I was attracted by the philosophy of football and Arsène Wenger’s 'touch' at this club. I have always admired Arsenal with its great history and reputation, and I now hope to achieve great things here. I’m very proud to be a Gunner and I will give my best for all the Arsenal fans.”
Giroud will join up with the Arsenal Squad for the Club’s pre-season preparations ahead of the new season.

Manchester United are lining up a move for Porto winger James Rodriguez as a potential replacement for Nani.Portugal star has already confessed publicly he may quit Old Trafford this summer, and Inter Milan are watching developments closely.
Colombian starlet Rodriguez is rated in the £25million range by Portuguese side Porto, and has already admitted a dream of playing for the Red Devils
United scouts have been tracking Rodriguez this campaign and even went to South America to watch him in action for the national team.
However, they may face competition for his signature from German giants Bayern Munich.
Nani, meanwhile, fears he is being frozen out of Old Trafford.
He is said be furious he has had no contact from anyone at United during Euro 2012, despite impressing at the tournament.
United boss Alex Ferguson is known for keeping in touch with his players by phone or text message, but sources within the Portugal camp say Nani is angry and feels isolated.
The revelation comes amid fears within Nani’s camp that the winger is being forced out of United, who have yet to offer him a new contract.
Nani still has two years left on his existing deal, but it was expected the 25-year-old would be rewarded with an improved contract to reflect the progress he has made at United.
But negotiations between Nani’s representatives and United have stalled, with the former fearing the latter are trying to ship him out of Old Trafford.
The arrival of Japan star Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund, and the fact wingers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia are already established at United, has cast doubt on Nani’s future.

The versatile right-back is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane after falling behind Premier league young player of the season Kyle Walker in the pecking order.
The Blues’ have emerged as surprise suitors for the 26-year-old, with new manager Roberto Di Matteo believing he can provide much-needed competition at right-back and centre-half.
The Italian has been impressed with Corluka, who has been employed centrally during Croatia’s Euro 2012 campaign and is aware that the former Manchester City defender is discontented in North London.
The Croatian spent the second half of last season on loan at German side Bayern Leverkusen after failing to make a single league appearance for Spurs before January and last month, publicly questioned then manager Harry Redknapp’s lack of rotation.
If Corluka completes the move across the Capital, he will likely be part of a trio of Croatian departures from White Hart Lane this summer. Play-maker Niko Kranjcar has already joined Dynamo Kyiv, while spurs ace Luka Modric is wanted by the world’s biggest clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United.
The North London side are unlikely to allow any players to leave before they appoint a new manager but have an abundance of young talent at right-back, including Walker, Kyle Naughton and England under-21 international Adam Smith.

| NIKO KRANJCAR - TOTTENHAM |
Tottenham and Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar set to leave North London side for Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kiev.
Kranjcar has struggled to break in to the Spurs first team over the last two campaigns, partly due to the exceptional form of Gareth Bale.
Boss Harry Redknapp has constantly stated he is not looking to sell the player despite using him sparingly, but the 27-year-old - who is currently on international duty at Euro 2012 - says he is close to moving to the Ukrainian side.
"The clubs have agreed," Kranjcar told Croatian website Jutarnji List.
"Now all that remains are some small details as I agree personal terms.
"I personally am not involved with that. I have left that to the people that represent me as I am concentrating on the Euros."
Harry signed Kranjcar from his former side Portsmouth in 2009 and he made a great impact in his first season, netting five goals and providing many assists from the left flank in 32 appearances.
But the emergence of Wales international Bale meant the Croatian dropped down the pecking order the following season and only made nine Barclays Premier League starts in 2011/12, although his campaign was shortened by a knee injury.
Last month the versatile player confessed he could be attracted by a big-money move to Russia or Ukraine.
"In Russia and Ukraine, playing football you can earn huge money," Kranjcar told Croatian website Index. "Whether we admit it or not, money is important."

| SHINJI KAGAWA - DORTMUND |
Kicker magazine claims a source close to the player has indicated that Red Devils will sign Kagawa for €15million (£12million) alongside performance related add-ons.
The 23 year-old, is one of brightest young stars after netting 21 goals in 46 appearances for the Bundesliga champions.
If signed by United, Kagawa will be the second player from Asia to feature in the United first team. Premier league giants signed South Korean Park Ji-Sung in 2005 and he has been a regular at Old Trafford for the past seven seasons.
This is not the first time the Japan international has been linked to United. Kagawa had confessed to having met legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in the middle of May but a stumbling block proved to be Dortmund's resistance in agreeing to a transfer. Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke demanded a "princely sum" if he was to sanction the highly-rated midfielder's move to the Premier League.
Kagawa was also mistakenly quoted at the start of last month as saying, "May 12 will be my last game for Dortmund and then I will start a new chapter in Manchester United."
United are interested in signing a new midfielder and were actively pursuing Lille's Eden Hazard only for the Belgian to declare on Tuesday that he had opted to join European Champions Chelsea instead.
